Matt A. Mason, Ph.D has a wide range of teaching experience in piano, music theory, composition, and technology. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Roosevelt University, where he teaches courses in musicianship, music theory, electronic music composition, and orchestration. Previously, he taught at the University of Iowa as an Instructor of Record for music theory and composition. He has taught music theory for community focused programs at the New World Youth Orchestra and served as a Teaching Fellow at Butler University’s Community Arts School, where he was Butler's employee of the year and the Community Arts School's Teaching Fellow of the Year awards. Matt has 15 years of teaching experience and has worked with students of all ages, interests, and needs.
Lesson Types
In Person: $75/hour and $50/half hour
Virtual/Remote Lessons: $60/hour and $40/half hour

Piano
Whether a new beginner, a returning hobbyist, or an aspiring professional, Matt can help you become a competent, thoughtful, and skilled pianist. Interested in classical music, popular, or jazz, Matt has the program for you.

Composition lessons include work in creative brainstorming, notating and engraving, songwriting, orchestration, and bringing your musical thoughts to life. No matter the style or genre, let Matt help you reach your creative potential!
